Maja Mattle-Greminger
Principal Investigator

Maja is head of the Department of Research and Development at Blutspende Zürich in Switzerland. Maja holds a PhD in Population Genomics from the University of Zurich. For 13 years she has been applying next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics in her research. One current focus of her research is on using the latest long-read sequencing technologies to futher investigate blood group genetics and imrpove molecular diagnostics.

Before joining the Blood Transfusion Service Zurich in 2016, Maja was a researcher and lecturer at the University of Zurich, with a focus on population genomics of great apes and humans.

Stefan Meyer
Principal Investigator

Stefan Meyer is head of the Department of Molecular Diagnostics and Cytometry at Blutspende Zürich in Switzerland. Stefan is specialist FAMH Medical Genetics and holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany.

He joined the Blood Transfusion Service Zurich in 2012, with a research focus on high-throughput blood group genotyping by mass spectrometry. Between 2015 and 2018, he worked in different medical genetics laboratories in Switzerland to further specialize on the degree of FAMH Medical Genetics, required for heading a medical diagnostics laboratory in Switzerland.
